Cary made his film debut with Stephen Lang in the film, The Money Shot and appeared as Jeff in the ABC movie Mary and Rhoda starring Mary Tyler Moore

Upcoming films include a supporting role in the film Julia,The Hyperglot directed by Michael Urie and the title character in The Death of David and the lead of the dance film Beijing Carmen.
Cary also writes, produces and directs. He has directed and produced A Tree Grows Out Harlem (winner of the NY State Council of the Arts directing grant), Chardonnay from a Coffee Can and The Survivor. Producing credits include The Beginning and The End selected for Cannes 2014, Fear of Extinction on NBC Chiller TV and commercials for the NBA, Vonage, Wells Fargo, Foursquare, and Relativity Media.
Cary has been performing on stage since he was 12. He has performed in the play Cathedral, written and directed by Joe Pintauro. Selected theatre includes: Dewpoint(Hudson Guild), Mutant Sex Party(TheDrillingCompaNY), and The Dead Boy (NJ Rep/Key West) with Mercedes Ruehl and the late Roy Scheider.
Some of his commercial credits include Maybelline with Adriana Lima, Kristen Davis, McDonalds and Caesar’s Palace.

2002年主演 6 部电影并获得美宝莲广告商的青睐，与章子仪以及超模Adriana Lima合拍美国美宝莲化妆品广告等。2003 年开始参演中国电影电视，包括与香港影星陈冠希合演校园青春励志剧《时差 7 小时》。
2005 年在中国云南和香港著名女演员萱萱和内地影星王学祈联袂出演电视剧《天火》。
2006 年在 洛杉矶参演两部影片《Shade Before Pink》和《White Label》。还成为首位在中国历史题材电影（《中国，1949》）担任主演的外国演员。
还有一部将在中央电视台上映的大型历史题材电视剧《金岸》，该剧由台湾著名演员寇世勋，内地女星苗圃和实力派小生黄觉联合担纲，张云龙担当男二号与众明星上演精彩对手戏。
2007年在三亚与台湾知名演员屈中恒出演电影《三轮车》，担当男一号。
2008～2010年在好莱坞拍电影和电视剧：”Rule of Three”, “Louie”, “Without A Trace”, “Fuel” 和 “A True Story”
2011年在电视剧《枪炮侯》出演 “小红毛” 赫顿。当年12月，该片在辽宁卫视、广东卫视和安徽卫视播出。
2012年中央电视台上映的大型历史题材电视剧《风雨唐人街》，
